Who are LE1 Records?

We are a collection of Leicester musicians, music Industry personnel and music creatives etc. who have assembled to launch a community record label, that will release original music which genuinely encompasses the musical diversity of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. A type of ‘musical social cohesion’ if you will!

What does LE1 Records aim to do?

Our main objectives are to release ‘grassroots’ compilation albums featuring original music from local acts to help raise their profiles, build their careers and subsequently enhance the socio-economic standing of the Leicester music industry.

We also aim to:

1. Offer personal/professional development opportunities to volunteers, students and job seekers etc. to help create or enhance careers, learn new skills, build self-confidence and reduce worklessness.

2. Provide / facilitate training in electronic MIDI music technology, media artwork, social media promotions, artist & repertoire, song writing skills, talent scouting, music creation and production; video and photography, artist development, mobile music production and other exciting creative and music industry roles.

3. Build, grow and sustain relationships with Leicester music industry personnel, local authorities, educational institutions, third sector and private enterprise to help with the advancement of the local music industry.

Why is LE1 Records doing this?

Leicester is the first ‘super-diverse’ city in the whole UK! What a privileged position to have and I’m sure we’re all very proud of this. But, diversity without genuine inclusion isn’t really making the best of this status.

By absolutely ensuring our future releases are inclusive of all musical genres from all local communities, we believe that LE1 Records can help to play a valuable role in ensuring musical diversity and inclusion in Leicester.
